Informative value of ultrasound examination in the syndrome of infiltration and stomach wall diffuse thickening

The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic informative value of multi-parametric ultrasonic examination in the syndrome of infiltration and stomach wall diffuse thickening. The work is based on ultrasound gastric studies of 311 patients examined at Budgetary Institution «Municipal clinical hospital № 1» of Chuvashia Public Health Ministry The median age value of patients examined was 53 years (min – 14 years; max – 81 years). Among patients in all age categories men predominated – 170 (54,7%) – over women – 141 (39,5%). The following diagnostic methods were used: in all patients – multi-parametric ultrasonic examination, in patients by medical reasons – magnetic-resonance tomography examinations (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) studies. Multi-parametric ultrasonic gastric examination was performed using scanners Aixplorer (Supersonic Imagine, France) and Ascuvix V10 and Ascuvix V20 (Medison, South Korea). Data obtained were processed by standard methods of medical statistics; at p ≤ 0,05 values were considered to be significant (reliability of ultrasound examination was confirmed by histomorphological studies of endoscopic biopsy and postoperative materials). Visual diagnostic ultrasound images of disorders in the syndrome of infiltration and stomach wall diffuse thickening depend on pathological nature: infiltrative-erosive (66,5±3,9), infiltrative-ulcerative with infiltrative component predominance (84,7±4,4) and those with ulcerative component predominance (38,1±3,9), diffuse-infiltrative disorders (29,6±4,1, p < 0,05). Data of the study make it possible to recognize advisability of using the method of multi-parametric ultrasonic gastric examination through transabdominal approach for detecting the syndrome of infiltration and stomach wall diffuse thickening in the algorithm of other diagnostic examination methods when conducting differential diagnosis between neoplastic and inflammatory gastric pathology.
