Determining the Stress Levels in Patients with Hyperprolactinemia
Keywords: psychoemotional stress, pituitary-hypothalamic system, hyperprolactinemia syndrome, menstrual function disorders, infertility
The state of women's reproductive health is one of the main factors influencing the population's reproductive processes. The stress effect, implemented through the pituitary-hypothalamic system, affects the level of reproductive sex hormones and changes the characteristics of the reproductive function. Hyperprolactinemia causes disorders of the reproductive function, up to infertility. The purpose of the study was to determine the stress level in patients with hyperprolactinemia using the test developed by Reader. Statistical processing of the obtained results was carried out by parametric and nonparametric methods. According to the results obtained, it was revealed that 59.7% of patients had high psychoemotional overstrain (scores from 2.18 to 3.00); moderate psychoemotional overstrain (from 1.18 to 2.17) was found in 29.3%; low stress level (from 0 to 1.17) – in 11.0%. Therefore, when managing patients with hyperprolactinemia syndrome, it is necessary to take into account their psycho-emotional state and, possibly, recommend consultations with a psychotherapist or psychologist for a successful restoration of their ovulatory menstrual cycle.
