Morphological justification for using a diode laser in chronic generalized parodontite

The aim of the work is to study cell adhesion of gingival epitheliocytes of stratified squamous epithelium in chronic generalized periodontitis before and after exposure to diode laser "Prometey" with a wavelength of 810 nm, and laser power of 0.5 W. The study involved 41 patients. The structure of gingival papillae was studied. The process of cell adhesion was determined qualitatively and quantitatively by the level of E-cadherin expression. It was found that in chronic generalized periodontitis the number of intercellular contacts decreases, after diode laser exposure it increases. In patients with periodontitis on the 3rd day of treating with diode laser residual signs of inflammation in the form of clusters of mature plasma cells remain in the lamina propria of stratified squamous epithelium, severe fibrosis with foci of hyalinosis prevails. The data obtained in the course of the study can be used to justify the use of a diode laser in the complex treatment of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis.
