The complex evaluation of clinical and immune status in patients with complicated caries and periodontitis

Keywords: caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, clinical and immune status

The aim of the present study was clinical and immunological examination of patients with dental caries and its complications accompanied by periodontitis. The immune status was investigated in peripheral blood. Clinical examination included history taking, physical examination of the oral cavity, assessment of dental hard tissues and periodontium. Immunological examination of patient groups and evaluation of the clinical data was performed in conformity with the three-stage principle of immune status determination. The interrelation between basic clinical and immunological parameters in patients with complicated caries in combination with moderately severe and severe periodontitis correspondingly was found. Practical recommendations in addition to traditional medical complex in the dental practice were formulated to improve the efficiency and shorten the duration of comobidity treatment, to prevent recurrences and to prolong clinical and laboratory remission. Implementation of these recommendations may help to stop inflammatory and destructive process, stimulate osteogenesis, prevent odontogenic focal infection and normalize immunity.
