Alcohol Sales Pattern and Epidemiological Parameters of Alcoholism in Russia

Keywords: alcohol, sales pattern, alcoholism, alcoholic psychoses, Russia

The aim of this study was to study the relationship between the alcohol sales pattern and epidemiological parameters of alcoholism in Russia at the population level. In the comparative aspect, the alcohol sales pattern and the level of primary incidence of alcoholism/alcohol psychoses in Russia in the period from 1970 to 2015 were studied. Statistical data processing (Spearman correlation analysis, cross-correlation analysis of "bleached" time series) was carried out using the software package "Statistica 12. StatSoft". The analysis of time series revealed a weak positive relationship between the proportion of vodka in the alcohol sales pattern and the level of primary incidence of alcoholism/alcoholic psychoses. The results of this study did not confirm the working hypothesis about the influence of alcohol sales pattern on the level of epidemiological alcoholism parameters.
