Psycho-emotional stress as a risk factor of reproductive health disorders

Reproductive health of young people determines the health of the nation and is the basis for Russia’s prosperity. The world community considers girls to be a true reserve of population reproduction, and the problem of preserving their general and reproductive health is of paramount importance in modern conditions. Stress affects female reproductive system and changes menstrual cycle characteristics. In many cases, the cause of idiopathic infertility is stressful ovulatory and endometrial dysfunction, resulting in disorder in dominant follicle formation. The purpose of the study was to determine stress level in female students by L. Reader's test and the effect of stress on menstrual function. Statistical processing of the study results was carried out using the method of parametric and nonparametric analysis. Female students during their training sessions experience a spectrum of emotional sufferings. As a result of the questionnaire analysis, it was found that a high level of psychoemotional stress (scores from 2,18 to 3,00) was observed in 13,3%; average level (from 1,18 to 2,17) – in 66.7%; low level (from 0 to 1,17) – in 20% of female students. At the same time, 33,3% of female students were revealed to have profuse menstruation, 43,3% had painful menstruation, and 23,3 had irregular menstruation. Stress is evident to have a negative impact on reproductive system of female students.
